JUST LET OUR KREMLIN BE THERE

Vladimir Sorokin, mimicking in his dystopian “Sugar Kremlin” the ur-patriotic discourse in Russia these days:

“But just only to look at our […] Kremlin, all through our eyes and just look at him, always, would that he always stood there in peace and never be gone, never would vanish, but just stood there where he stands now in his very main place forever and for all ages eternal, in that place of our main and great striving, a good striving that all would just gather to go and give themselves to with utmost joyfulness, all just gathered together, to set everything right and in proper order, together forever, within and in-between us all to set everything right and proper and in good order forever, forever and eternal, just let nobody stand in our way, just let  our Kremlin […] stand there in his very main place forever so we could look at him always good and right, all through our eyes, unto the trembling of our souls, unto our souls’ pure shining, the shining  of gold, the great golden Kremlin light, the light that would make everything good and right, for all of us, so good and right, so, one never would need or want nothing more, ever, never, nothing more…”
